The Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AERI) started under the umbrella of the Agricultural Research Centre (ARC) that was established back in 1971. Since then, the institute is being developed to keep up with both domestic and international changes. AERI measures the impact of changing economic variables on Egypt's agricultural sector, cooperates with other institutes to assess and improve the technologies and services available for Egyptian agriculture through research and extension activities, and contributes to addressing the important issues facing the agricultural sector to reach appropriate suggestions and recommendations of benefit to this key economic sector.
